I have to admit,
I love Black Friday shopping.

I know, I know
I’m crazy.

There is something exhilarating about waking up in the middle of the night to go shopping for amazing deals.

Like the $5 Cabbage Patch baby doll I waited in line an hour for,
Or the $20 Barbie house,
Or all those $3 DVDs…

But the main thing that I love about Black Friday is
People-watching.

There have been some years that I did not buy a thing, I only was there to witness the insanity.

Pull up a chair, grab your bowl of popcorn, and just watch wide-eyed…
It’s that kind of entertainment.

People are crazy.

Seriously.
They are.

And there is something about that one particular day that can bring out the worst in people.

Anger, greed, selfishness, impatience…
It’s all there.
Full-force

And we are all susceptible to being controlled by that side of ourselves.
All of us.

We can go from a day of thankfulness to a day of selfishness and greed as a people
Tremendously fast.

It truly is sad.

And I am not pointing a finger at all of ‘those people’
Who act like crazy monsters.

Each of us is entirely capable of being that crazy Black Friday monster just as easily as the next guy.

I hope, though that we will all take a minute and stop to think before we act that way.
Stop to be thankful when we are tempted to be greedy.
Stop to be kind when we are tempted to be selfish.
Stop to be gracious when we are tempted to be angry.
